Middlesbrough role for starlet Lees

Tom Lees could be handed his full debut against Middlesbrough on Saturday after helping inspire Leeds United’s fightback against Bradford City.
The young defender made a crucial impression on Tuesday’s Carling Cup first-round tie, creating the second goal in a 3-2 win and shoring a defence which was breached twice by the Bantams.
Lees’ 28-minute cameo was his first competitive appearance for Leeds and the end of a long wait for an opportunity with a club which sent him out on loan to Accrington and Bury in the past two seasons.
The 20-year-old returned to Elland Road from Gigg Lane this summer with 96 senior appearances behind him, and United manager Simon Grayson promised that he would be part of the senior squad and given a fair chance to claim a starting place.

Grayson said: “If you look at the backline (on Tuesday), we’re talking about experienced professionals who’ve played in numerous games – Lonergan, Connolly, Kisnorbo, O’Brien and Parker.
“We’ve got to stop the flow of goals against us. It’s something we’ve tried to address and maybe we could bring another player or two in to make us better.”
